ProGnosis Biotech Connects Aflatoxin Risk Across the Food Chain at AOAC 2026

At AOAC 2026, ProGnosis Biotech brought its scientific voice to the international analytical community, contributing to the conversation on how emerging mycotoxin risks are changing the way food and feed safety are understood, monitored and managed.

ProGnosis Biotech participated in AOAC 2026 in Indianapolis, joining scientists, laboratory professionals and industry experts in discussions around the challenges shaping the future of analytical testing and food safety.

The company’s presence extended beyond the exhibition floor. Through two scientific presentations, ProGnosis Biotech contributed directly to the program, bringing forward perspectives on how mycotoxin risks are evolving and what that means for the way the industry monitors and controls them.

Alan Deery, Sales Manager at ProGnosis Biotech, addressed the changing risk landscape in “Climate Change and the New Mycotoxin Testing Landscape.” His presentation explored how shifting weather patterns are changing where and when mycotoxin risks emerge, challenging established assumptions and increasing the need for more responsive monitoring strategies.

That broader discussion was carried further by Georgios Papageorgiou, Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer of ProGnosis Biotech, in his presentation “From Aflatoxin B1 in Feed to Aflatoxin M1 in Milk: Carcinogenic risk, biological carry-over and fit-for-purpose control.”

His presentation brought the focus from emerging risk to connected control, highlighting why aflatoxin management cannot stop at a single testing point. What begins as a feed safety issue can continue into milk, reinforcing the need to understand risk across the production chain and use analytical information where it can support the most effective decisions.

Together, the two presentations reflected a wider shift in mycotoxin control. Testing is no longer only about confirming whether a sample meets a limit. Its growing value lies in helping professionals understand how risk is changing, recognize where it may move next and respond earlier with greater confidence.

AOAC 2026 gave ProGnosis Biotech the opportunity not only to participate in that discussion, but to actively contribute to it, bringing scientific expertise, practical experience and a clear perspective on how analytical testing can support stronger food and feed safety.

AOAC 2026 may have ended, but the issues raised there continue to shape the industry. As risk patterns evolve and the need for stronger, more connected monitoring grows, ProGnosis Biotech remains committed to contributing to that conversation and to developing diagnostic solutions that turn reliable information into better-informed decisions.
