GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISMS

The use of genetically modified crops has been a subject of debate and concern. Some critics raise environmental and health-related questions, while proponents argue that GMOs contribute to more efficient and sustainable agricultural practices.

Many countries have regulations regarding the cultivation, sale, and labeling of genetically modified crops. Rapid testing helps ensure compliance with these regulations by allowing quick verification of the GMOs presence in crops. This is especially important for maintaining the integrity of non-GMO or organic products.

RAPID TEST ________

CP4 EPSPS

CP4 EPSPS, or 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase from Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain CP4, is an enzyme associated with genetically modified organisms (GMOs), specifically those engineered for herbicide resistance. The introduction of CP4 EPSPS allows farmers to use glyphosate-based herbicides to control weeds without harming the genetically modified crops.

The presence of CP4 EPSPS serves as a genetic marker, indicating genetic modification. Crops that are often genetically modified to include CP4 EPSPS are soybeans, maize (corn), canola, cotton, and others. These crops are known as “Roundup Ready” varieties, as Roundup is a glyphosate-based herbicide. Lateral Flow testing provides a fast and accurate solution for their detection.

With our Rapid Test CP4 EPSPS differentiating between GMO and non-GMO samples has never been easier.
