As an ILSI Europe member, ProGnosis Biotech participated in two days of discussion in Brussels on food safety, nutrition, sustainability and the evolving role of science-based decision-making across the food value chain.
ProGnosis Biotech participated in the ILSI Europe Symposium 2026, held on 15-16 June in Brussels, joining scientists, industry representatives, public sector experts and food safety professionals for two days of scientific exchange, reflection and connection.
The symposium brought together international expertise to discuss key topics shaping the future of food safety, nutrition and sustainability, including food safety risk analysis, food contaminants, allergen management, microbiome science, healthy ageing, food contact materials and emerging approaches to personalised nutrition. For ProGnosis Biotech, the event was a valuable opportunity to follow the latest scientific discussions, exchange ideas and engage with the wider food safety community in a collaborative setting.
For ProGnosis Biotech, the event provided a valuable opportunity to follow current scientific discussions and regulatory priorities, exchange perspectives with experts across sectors and engage with the wider food safety community in a collaborative setting.
Throughout the programme, several discussions reflected a growing need to translate scientific progress into practical tools, frameworks and decisions. Sessions on food safety risk analysis highlighted how risk assessment, risk management and risk communication continue to evolve in response to new knowledge, regulatory expectations and consumer protection needs. This direction is closely aligned with ProGnosis Biotech’s view that food safety systems should support earlier action, clearer decisions and greater confidence across the value chain.
The symposium also explored topics directly connected to ProGnosis Biotech’s areas of focus, including food contaminants and allergen management. Discussions around risk prioritisation, labelling, quantitative risk assessment and analytical challenges reinforced the importance of reliable testing solutions that help laboratories, manufacturers and quality teams respond to real operational needs.
“At this year’s ILSI Europe Symposium, the value of scientific collaboration was clear. By bringing together experts from industry, academia and research, ILSI Europe continues to create an important space where knowledge, ideas and practical needs can meet,” said Sebastien Poisson, Business Development France & Africa at ProGnosis Biotech. “As the industry moves toward more evidence-based, risk-focused and preventive approaches, reliable diagnostics have a critical role to play in helping food businesses make faster and more confident decisions.”
ProGnosis Biotech values its continued connection with ILSI Europe and its wider network and remains committed to contributing to conversations that bring science closer to real-world food safety practice. Through its technologies and active industry engagement, the company continues to support laboratories and food businesses in strengthening preventive control, improving decision-making and protecting consumer trust across the food value chain.
